The art and technique of using words effectively.

Why is this so hard for so many? What is it that keeps up from using words to get what we want across?

I know for me, it has been the fear of a person turning away from me. I did not want to scare him away and so I told myself to have patience and wait until he said something.

While this experience has taught me a lot about patience, I think it is gone now. I am tired of waiting and my desire to communicate now far outweights my desire to have patience.

Say something, or move on.

Blonde moment

I had this completely horrible moment last night. For as well as things have been going over the past few weeks, it all unraveled like a crocheted blanket in about two days.

Yesterday, to get out some frustration, I went mountain biking. My initial estimate is that I went 20-plus miles. I road from Wheeler Creek TH to Green Pond TH on Snowbasin Road. To get down I went over Trapper's Loop (quite the experience) and along Pineview Dam until I made a full circle.

I felt so good and so far, I am not terribly sore. The pain I do feel is from doing a dive, roll, something-or-other into 3rd during a kickball game. I could hear about every vertibrea in my back crack (and not a good crack either). Later on I figured I dove into a hill (the reason for the not-so-good slide).

Everyone wanted to go see Nacho Libre and I should have said no. I was already tired and it had been a long day. Unfortunatly I went and slept through about half of it. oops... When I got home I was so excited to crawl into bed I forgot my bike was still on top of my car... CRACK! The weld connecting the front spokes to the frame broke. So now I need to find someone to fix my bike... crap! Good thing I did not plan a bike ride this weekend.

Love of Life

I love life. There are so many good things going on.

When things get hard or don't go our way, I think we have a tendancy to focus on that. We forget to look at all the blessings we have; and more importantly, what hasn't gone wrong. I find that when I look for the good in each day, it is easier to be happy. This allows the little, petty things to roll off your shoulder.

Look for the good in each day and find a reason to be thankful for what you do have.

N.Y. Times Quote of the Day

"The prosecution asks for the maximum punishment for these defendants. They showed no mercy, even for women or children, and even the trees in the orchards were not safe from their repression."
JAAFAR AL-MOUSSAWI, the chief prosecutor in the trial of Saddam Hussein.

Internet-powered politics

Adam Cohen, from the New York Times, investigates the power of Internet Politics. More and more the Internet is becoming a tool, both good and bad, for politicians to share their views. What is more important is the Internet creates an outlet for citizens to discuss their opinions and ideas (whether good, bad or outrageous).

Mr. Cohen writes: "On Election Day 2008, voters could get video clips on their laptops and cellphones from Beyoncé, Bruce Springsteen or the Dixie Chicks ? targeted by geography or demographics ? urging them to vote, and telling them where to do it."

The years to come will be interesting...

Peace Takes Courage

Ms. Lowery's video, set to the Queen song "We Will Rock You," contrasted the "liars" and "leakers" in the Bush administration with "those of us who choose to stand up for truth and justice." Her handiwork, which can be seen at Youtube.com (Ava Lowery's video), is a bit over the top. But it shows that a 15-year-old with video software and Internet access can now create and disseminate a professional-quality political ad.

N.Y. Times Quote of the Day

"It is mind-numbingly boring to sit in one spot 10 hours a day and watch people stream by and be told your job is not to chase them but call the guy behind you. The problem is there often is no guy behind you, because we are short-staffed."
T. J. Bonner, president of the National Border Patrol Council, the agents' union.
