Why is this so hard for so many? What is it that keeps up from using words to get what we want across?

I know for me, it has been the fear of a person turning away from me. I did not want to scare him away and so I told myself to have patience and wait until he said something.

While this experience has taught me a lot about patience, I think it is gone now. I am tired of waiting and my desire to communicate now far outweights my desire to have patience.
